January 2016

MasterWorks II
Happy New Year and here’s to a splendid 2016 of music and joy.  The Auburn Symphony is gearing up for our Masterworks Concert II on January 30th-31st and we will be joined by none other than the amazing cellist Tina Guo. Tina returns to the Auburn Symphony as one of the most highly sought-after and busiest multi-genre talents in Southern California.  She will be performing Saint Saens’ magical Cello Concerto.  Since her last performance with the Auburn Symphony at the Mondavi Center in 2010, Tina embarked on an 18-month tour as a featured soloist in Cirque Du Soleil’s Michael Jackson “The Immortal” World Tour performing in sold out arenas around the world.  Check out Tina’s YouTube page to get a sampling of the wide variety of work she’s doing these days.  You can purchase tickets online now to see this “can’t miss” soloist.

(If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact me at rhaswell_placer@yahoo.com or 530-852-2340.)

We’ll have great food, great entertainment, and great fun as we celebrate the music of the 20s and 30s by composers like George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Duke Ellington.  (Pianist Richard Glazier will be performing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue at our Mother’s Day concert at the Mondavi Center and will have a solo show at the State Theatre in Auburn.  Gershwin was heavily influenced by the music of the time and is  one of the 20th Century’s most popular American composers.)  And you wouldn’t want to miss Maestro Jaffe’s preview of the 2016/2017 season!

We’re jazzed about our Gala and hope you’ll join us!

Warm regards,

Rob Haswell
