- Guest Artists
From Strauss's beautiful Four Last Songs to Prokofiev's witty Lieutenant Kije, from Hindemith's bold Symphonic Metamorphosis to the Romantic epic symphonies of Frank and Sibelius, the Auburn Symphony's 2014-15 season provides an amazing collection of musical treasures from abroad. Particularly fascinating are the works of multiple cultural interest -- French composer Berlioz's inspiration from Italy in his Roman Carnival, Gershwin's jazzy souvenir from south of the border in his Cuban Overture, and Ravel's incorporation of Asian exoticism into his lavish Daphnis and Chloe.
In the same way that our programs as a whole embrace such elegant variety, our outstanding guest artists bring an impressive array of talent and experience to our performances, capped by a terrific chorus joining us in our season finale. Our Symphony in the Park and Family Concert will both feature talented winners from our annual Young Artist Competition, and we continue our traditional Messiah sing-along in December with you contributing vocal talent for the jubilant occasion.
We hope our live performances create for you a set of emotional souvenirs, so to speak -- that you take home with you the stirring passions and intense memories evoked by the Auburn Symphony. Your fabulous patronage and support make a big difference in allowing those inspirations to come to life -- thanks for helping the wonderful Auburn Symphony to thrive!
